- AMCC updated its entire PowerPC lineup with the 405EX, the new 460 family of processors, and the forthcoming Titan CPU.
- Freescale added the PowerQuicc 8572 and MPC8610 and completely revised its roadmap to include multicore 45nm processors.
- Intel extended its low end with Atom (Silverthorne), disclosed its first integrated x86 processor (Tolapai), and revised its high end with new Merom-based processors.
- Marvell rolled out two families of processors based on its ARM-compatible Shiva CPU running at speeds of up to 2.0GHz.
- PMC-Sierra introduced the MSP8110 and MSP8120 using the MIPS 34K CPU.
- Cavium revamped its entire Octeon line with second-generation 90nm processors at up to 900MHz.
- RMI (formerly Raza Microelectronics) rolled out its XLS processor family with single- to quad-core processors.
- AMD moved its embedded x86 line entirely to 64-bit processors built in 65nm.
- PA Semi achieved production on its 2GHz Power processor, then was acquired by Apple for $268 million.
- Via announced its new Nano processor, based on the Isaiah CPU, doubling the performance of the C7.
